Classical Yoga outside Sivananda

i’ve practiced Sivananda yoga for more than 2 years. it is a “classical” yoga system (as opposed to much modern yoga which seems to see yoga as a form of gymnastics) incorporating breathing, mantras and vedic philosophy and more.

I was fortunate enough to run across Amber’s yoga training in Macon, GA and in her bio noticed she trained with Yogrishi Vishvketu in at Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh, India.

Personally, I would be very confused if I went to India. in the map showing their center, there are 20 or 30 other yoga centers, all very near Anand prakash Yoga ashram.

Then Something unusual happened…

i was reviewing some of the videos of Anada Prakash Yoga on youtube, when a “Vamadheva Yoga” video caught my eye… after watching the impressive yogasanas of the founder, N.S.M. Raajan, I had dropped Sivananda Yoga and started practicing this, mainly because I was able to detect that this yoga placed a premium on opening the hips so that you can get into full lotus.

Thank you Amber!

I was in Macon for 4 whole weeks after reading her ad, but I never took the time to take her instruction, which as you can see is quite extensive.

Life is strange that way…

And my Sivananda hoodie disappeared as soon as I made the decision and I could not find the damned thing anywhere after being with that jersey through thick and thin!
